The reason I went into photography is because I am extremely passionate about it and love it. A bunch of people kept seeing my photos and said I should really get into photography as a career. I decided to teach myself more skills. I had already that the Photoshop as a background from college.
It gives me the chance to be a stay at home Mom. I used to work in the movie industry doing Visual Effects for feature films in Los Angeles for the 5 years. Then we moved here to Arizona because we wanted to raise a family and we didn’t feel LA was the best place to bring children up. We are from the East Coast and it’s much different as most of you know.
It was an extremely hard decision on my account to leave my career that I went to school for and worked so hard to get into the movie business. The only way to get jobs in movies is it’s all who you know. You have to know the right people. Which took a long time for because I didn’t know a sole when I moved there.
Plus leaving the pay I used to make in a single day is the same amount I make in an ENTIRE week. It’s kinda depressing to think about as far as luxury and lifestyle. But to be a stay at home Mom you can not put a price on. I am the one that can teach my children into having good morals and values. I couldn’t be more blessed to be able to stay at home and see my children grow up and be able to work from home. I want every Mom out there to know that it is wonderful to stay at home with your children. BUT just because you have an interest or enjoy photography doesn’t mean that is the exact career for you. I went into it because I have been an artist since I was a child and went to art school. Yes I taught myself it but remember I have an art background. This makes a HUGE difference. I grew up drawing people’s portraits. So my photography career came to me naturally. I am not trying to discourage anyone by any means. I am sure there are plenty of photographers out there that might have an ounce of artistic skill in them but maybe learned to have an eye for it. I don’t know actually I am actually interested to hear how other photographers got started. If you are one please write me a comment about it. I would love to hear it.
I just hope I am raising my children in a good way and they become wonderful people. Treat people the way they would want to be treated. Respect others and love God with all their hearts, mind and soul. I hope they learn to love life the way I have learned and laugh as much as possible!
My long term goals is to work in the wedding industry full time once the kids go to school. This way I can make the real money. For now it’s fun to do family portraits which I will still do just not as much. I love working with families and meeting new people so it’s fun.
