Phoenix Photographer

The leaves were finally falling in Phoenix, Arizona the past 2 weeks and it really looks like fall here on January 6th. After school one day I took my children to take their pictures because I don’t have any recent and over the holidays I wanted to print some for the Grandparents as I do each Christmas. I give them prints and gifts of updated yearly photos.  I told them I was going to take their pictures and they could play in the leaves. Well because they haven’t had much of a chance ever to play in the leaves here in Arizona they of course were super excited. I couldn’t get them to stand or sit together at all.

I felt like the worst Mom and Photographer at the same time by the end of taking their pictures,  I was so upset because I couldn’t get a good pictures of their beautiful smiling faces truly happy with real natural smiles like they always are. I didn’t want those “fake” smiles they give me such as “OK Mom take our picture”. I used to practice on them everyday they are very tired of it. I was thinking I take pictures every single week of families, babies, children and I can always great beautiful pictures of everyone smiling and happy why can’t I get my own? Then I of course was doubting myself as a Professional Photographer. After a couple days I went back to look at the pictures of them and was happy I had updated pictures of them and that is exactly how they were at that time. I came to realize that I was happy to see them looking sweet, and tiny just as they are at this age “young”. This is the most important thing their youth it’s only once and that is why it’s so important to get updated pictures not because they are smiling, or kitty cat was in all the pictures, or my daughter won’t keep her hand away from her face but because they are who they are at this very moment. I LOVE candid photos the most anyways which makes me happy.

 

This was the end where I just gave up, a good tip children don’t last more than 30-45 minutes tops for taking direction and focusing they want to PLAY!
